Hi, I’m Jen (she/her). I’m a queer, neurodivergent (ADHD), trauma-informed counsellor based in the North East. Most of my work is online, but if you’d rather meet in person, I also have a cosy room in central Houghton.
I know reaching out for therapy can feel daunting. My job isn’t to ‘fix’ you; it’s to make the process feel human, supportive, and something you can actually look forward to.
I mainly work with adults who are dealing with things like trauma, family or relationship struggles, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and people-pleasing.
Together, we’ll look at what’s weighing you down, make sense of your emotions, and find practical ways forward; whether that’s setting healthier boundaries, handling stress differently, or learning to put yourself first without guilt.
I’m a human first, therapist second. Life is messy. I don’t pretend to have it all figured out and I don't expect you to either. Therapy with me isn’t about ‘having the answers.’ It’s about having a space where you can be real, without judgement or pressure.
I keep my style relaxed and conversational. At my core I’m person-centred, which means you set the pace and focus of sessions. Sometimes that looks like exploring past experiences, sometimes it’s tackling unhelpful thought patterns (hello CBT), and sometimes it’s simply finding practical tools to get through the week.
What ties it all together is this: I focus on your strengths, not just your struggles.
